Winterberry Ring

Have you noticed the bright red berries scattered throughout the woods in the fall and into the winter?  Winterberry is a holly native to the eastern US and Canada.  This ring is hand pierced and hand sawn.  It was an exercise in precision and patience and I enjoyed every second of making it!  I got lost in the process and found some flow and I think that comes through in the presence of this piece.  It’s light weight on your finger and is such a symmetrical and pleasing design. I love the feel of saddle rings.  They’re great to wear when you need gloves!

I took it out on a field trip and found the most amazing orchids to photograph it with.  Nothing like finding green, green, green in the depths of winter.
