Jackalopes hadn't really crossed my radar until I read a book about them a few years ago and realized how much they have impacted folklore in the states, especially in the west.
Popularized by two brothers in Wyoming in the 1930s, the jackalope can trace its mythical roots back to medieval and Renaissance times. The jackalope is said to be a shy creature that can imitate human speech and uses its horns to deeply cut any challengers.
